Canyon Lake will have to go to work in their last 3 games to help get a playoff spot and momentum after a tough loss to the Fredericksburg Billies last Friday night, 60-48.

               Let’s Go Hawks!!

The score is not an indication of a run-away win for the Billies as Canyon Lake was in the game through 3 1/2 quarters but foul trouble finally took the wind out of the Hawks Wings as Coach Chapman resorted in having to use different line-ups due to necessity.

Trent MacRoberts and Parker Mott were two of those players pining away during critical game time action.

District front runner, Fredericksburg, found their advantage a skimpy 2 points, in this back and force first half of play, 28-26.

Mott was able to reach double digit scoring, thanks in part, in being efficient in making 9 of 10 free throw tries, to help go along with his 6 points scored from the floor.

That 3 Point shot was not a friend in this battle after sinking just 2 of 19 which would be fine in selling insurance but that 11% average can spell doom for a basketball team.

The Hawks have been having slow starts during the district campaign and matching Fredericksburg to start the game was a reversal that was good to see but that could not be matched to start the 2nd Half and a 7 point showing in the 3rd period helped in dimming the lights for any hope of making a much needed mark in this game.

           Proud of The Hawks!!

Rico Griffin was active with 9 boards and 5 coming on the offensive side of the court and Canyon Lake was able to get 15 points off of their bench, but having starters taking time on the bench with fouls would led to this loss.

The Hawks will need to have a turn around this week and get back on the winning side when Bandera and Boerne both pay a visit to the Hawk Nest.

Winnable games on paper that will need to be translated on the court.

Go Hawks!!
