This game was a top heavy scoring game for CL as this game had 3 Hawks scoring in double digits, Sam Schimank (10), Rico Griffin (12), and Parker Mott (15)….while the rest of the team with a 4 point high game by Anthony Zavala.

With just 11 points coming from the other players playing a roll in this loss.

Wimberley was helped by scoring 22 points from the Charity Stripe for the game and 13 coming from that last period.

Charity is putting it lightly with some light whistles for the Visiting Team vs. a Home Team just leave ing their Charity hand-outs on the street as the generous contribution did help in stocking a full food pantry for the Texans.

“We wait to get desperate before we start to play,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman said when commenting on how well the Hawks played in scoring 17 points in the last quarter when trying to respond to a 10 point deficit. “We competed hard and play well defensively.”

The Lake was able to coax 14 turnovers that kept CL in the game but not finishing would be a recurring problem.

           Proud of these Hawks!!

Parker Mott finished with a season high 8 steals while dishing out 3 assists with both stats leading the Hawks.

“I’m staying active,” Mott assessed. “All you can do is stop them and they were doing a dribble drive and we would trap them and that is how we got those steals….half of my steals were a result of my teammates’ defense.”

Griffin was a beast in that 4th Quarter as he had just one rebound going into that period before setting up his camp under the basket in garnering 7 rebounds with 4 of those boards on the offensive side of the court.

Griffin had 8 of his 12 second half points to go along with those rebounds in that final stanza.

Rico Griffin will be working on not being Lackadaisical in Bi-District game.

“We need to come out with more energy,” Griffin offered in seeking a remedy for the past games slow start to their games. “We did not come out with a good mind set we were just too lackadaisical and it took us too long to find a flow.”

Canyon Lake will need to rectify this part of their game with a win or go home time of the season starts this coming Tuesday in Marble Falls in a game with Liberty Hill.

Trent MacRoberts was helpful with 3 blocks and now getting a team effort on the offensive side of the ball will be imperative in this next battle.

CL’s next game will be the 2nd game that will follow the Taylor vs. Fredericksburg contest.

Go Hawks!!
