Top billing on This Week @ Canyon Lake goes to the Hawk Baseball team after winning the Marion Tournament last week-end with a walk off victory in the Championship game.
Baseball has not been racking up wins and having 3 wins this past week can give fans some taste for a team that has a chance of making some noise this time.
This is the best start ever in Baseball with a full load again this week starting with a road game in Smithville and then going Southwest to Devine for another busy week-end.
Pitching is a key element in tournament play when you have a pitch count that will have teams going to unproven players to pitch based each game situation.
A First and hopefully more celebrations in the future.
Boys Basketball said farewell to this season with a loss to Liberty Hill in their Bi-District contest last Tuesday. An up and down campaign that had another year of qualifying for Post-Season games.
Track & Field had 14 teams at the Hawk Nest and at this writing, The ReSporter, is still waiting for how the Hawks performed. Both the Boys and Girls will have to make up a lot of points that graduated last year and that would make this a work in progress time for the Tracksters.
Track will be in Navarro this Saturday in hopes of improving those times and field events.
Softball has one of the toughest schedules of any Sport this year after starting in a predominantly 6A Tournament at Canyon High School and then going down one class to Marble Falls with more larger schools to compete against.
There was two wins which shows improvement and more comparable competition. This week a home game with Gonzales on Tuesday that will be followed by another reduction in size of schools playing in Blanco’s Tournament.
District play is fast approaching and this should hopefully start showing more success.
Boys Soccer finally got off their 9 win season with a victory over Bandera for that elusive 10th win.
This week there will be two tough battles against Fredericksburg and Boerne on the road.
The Ladies Soccer team will have those same two schools at home this week with 6pm start times.
Have a Great Week and Go Hawks!!
