CL Hawks Warm Up in Scoring 13 Runs in Win over Burnet

The Canyon Lake Hawks played a Hot Game in the Cold in their win over Burnet, 13-2.

A knock-out punch came in the 2nd Inning when the Hawks sent 12 to the plate with 6 hits and 2 walks that scored 7 runs and gave the Visiting team the first 9 runs scored.

Marley Carrizales led The Lake with 3 hits having every Hawk but one reaching base with a base hit. All but two Hawks had an rbi and being able to coax a walk by all but two players.

“I am starting to see the ball better and I am more confident,” Carrizales said like a pro. “We really have a solid group and we are able to keep an inning going.”

That was certainly the case on this cold game-day….CL was able to work 9 base on balls which kept the pressure on the Bulldogs in every inning. Clutch hitting was the main contributor as 9 runs were scored coming with 2 outs.

On where this team is as district play gets closer, “We will need to clean-up on defense,” Carrizales said as she spoke on having one of those 2 errors in this contest.

Maddy Puente continued her dominance in the circle in win over Burnet.

In the circle, Maddy Puente had a solid outing allowing just one walk while striking out 6 and only giving up one earned run.

All the keys are starting to come together as District 28-4A comes calling soon when it will be time to start performing at a higher level in trying to defend their Championship run last season.

Canyon Lake will be hosting the Taylor Ducks on Friday as these two schools will be fighting for the Hawk Nest and a chance for CL in getting back to a .500 mark for this season.
