This was the Hawks 3rd straight one run contest that had those little things that proved to be the reason for this downfall in this game.

“It was good to have that 7th inning and that gave us the momentum on our side,” Head Coach Victor Escamillia said. “We have to make sure we make the routine plays to first but we did not capitalize on that.”

Canyon Lake had a chance to score first in the bottom of the 4th inning when Brandon Robinson was out at home after a single by Tanner Schultz. While the Lions would take the lead that next inning with a 3 spot with all those runs being scored after the Hawks had two outs.

A single and a passed ball on a strikeout had CL having one of those little things causing this deficit. With a Hawk error resulting in that final run in that inning.

SAC would strike again with another run the next frame giving the visitors a 4 run lead, but the never say die Lake would chip away in the bottom half with 2 runs and cutting that lead in half.

Let’s Go Hawks!!

Mason Lee had a first ball hitting double and then Robinson double his fun next that scored Lee, 4-1 SAC.

Tyler Pauly was next with an infield single that advanced Robinson to 3rd base with still just one out in the inning.

Schultz fielders choice out scoring Robinson and cutting the Lion’s lead to 2 runs, 4-2.

Canyon Lake held serve and then scored 3 runs in the final at bat putting this game in extra innings. This inning had a 2-run shot for CL’s first homer of the season off the bat of Cale Claycomb that scored Matt Anderson who reached base after taking one for the team. Ethan Slater kept the inning going working a walk that was followed by a single by Williams.

          Hit them hard Hawks!!

That 5th Hawk run came via a Pauly single driving in Williams but 2 Hawk outs were a result of base stealing miscues that stopped SAC’s bleeding.

With a regular UIL contest, would have the Hawks with a win but a 9 inning game was in play that left the Visitors with a chance to tie in the 9th before their winning run in that next inning, 6-5.

Canyon Lake will be back in action this Friday with the first pitch commencing at 4:30pm for the Junior Varsity followed by the Hawks Varsity,

Go Hawks!!
