CL Hawks Freshman Dance All Around the Tigers, 50-6

CL Freshman with their Victory Formation after 50-6 win over Smithville.

Canyon Lake’s Freshman behemoth did not face a 3rd down play in taking care of the Smithville Tigers, 50-6.

North Shore UMC says Go Hawks!

“I am super proud as we were able to get all of our players in the game,” Head Freshman Coach Bill Greene stated. “We responded well and we will need to clean up some of those little things.”

The Hawks would not have an offensive snap to start this game as Smithville had their version of the slot-t through the air as they marched 16 plays before Chase Anderson would end this impressive Tiger drive with an interception on the 16 yard line.

Smithville’s drive lasted into the 2nd quarter while eating up just 44 yards of real estate with one explosive pass for 22 yards while converting their first 4 third down attempts. CL’s interception was on a 4th down try which went awry.

The Lake’s Freshman would have their longest drive in terms of plays next, when they drove the field in 4 snaps and covering 94 yards. Ty Sellers had the biggest impact with a 56 yard run that had 4 different Hawks with a carry that went 10 yards or more.

“They (Offensive Line) held their blocks for my run,” Sellers said through an interpreter. “They are the glue of our offense.”

Wyatt Bates, Hunter Anderson, and Ty Sellers after win over Smithville.

This game had Canyon Lake dancing across the field with a one and two step offense as the waltz would not be needed for this blow out victory.

Speaking of glue, CL had one of many with Offensive Lineman, Wyatt Bates that would be part of that bonding factor in this contest, “We just listen to our Coaches and we always will have that intensity and we brought it tonight and we will show Blanco what we got next week.” (Said through an interpreter)

There would be only one 2nd down play due to a fumbled snap on the first down call for this whole game. As CL was able to score on one snap 5 different times and a lost fumble was also on a first down play.

           Way to Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake has started another winning streak with this game and Hunter Anderson continued to lead this team at quarterback, “We made a great read tonight and that helped us get to the winning side…Our goal is to win every down and we did not come out the sharpest but we are a bond of brothers that can bring it back.”

Complete control of this contest that has the coaches needing to work on the defense’s start to a game. Coaches have to find something to let the players know that work has to be done for their next week of workouts.

Canyon Lake will be on their first road game of the year this coming Thursday when they travel to Blanco to combat the Panther’s Junior Varsity. A short ride to see an up and coming Hawk team.

Way to Go Hawks!!
