Canyon Lake’s Volleyball took care of business in sweeping the Llano Yellowjackets for their 9th straight win and with an unblemished district record, 2-0.

The Hawks had their first sweep in keeping their opponent from reaching 10 or more points for the first time by a Canyon Lake squad. Llano suffered their 2nd loss and their two losses were to the schools on top of the heap.

It has been mentioned that the Hawks are a young team and have several losses to 5A & 6A schools.

Those contests were planned in going to tournaments in that first month that would give CL games against larger teams.

In those losses, the present combined record for those teams is, 228-115 or a 66% winning percentage. That had this group of ladies growing up quick in order to be able to make a statement when district started up.

CL’s wins have come against teams holding a respectable 44% winning percentage. A 9 game victory streak has the last loss for The Lake coming on August 24th and no losses during the month of September.

The Hawk’s district record is 2-0 and they have won their last 6 sets after losing their opening set against Boerne. Confidence has been instilled and now the proof will be in the pudding this Friday when Canyon Lake will meet the 7th Ranked (according to the Girls Coaches Association) Texans.

A tall order to be sure but a doable hill to climb and with a win then being perched on an inside track for a chance to make the playoffs and win the District 28-4A Title.

Boerne (the Hawks first district win) were on the winning side in their game against Bandera who beat Fredericksburg in their first outing.

Wimberley upended the Billies and that should make this a huge game for The Lake on Friday at 6:00pm.

Go Hawks!!
