A couple of big events this week with CL’s Tennis team taking on Liberty Hill Panthers at Marble Falls in their first Bi-District match in school history. The Hawks come into this contest with a 4th seed while meeting the a first seed against Liberty Hill.
Chances for an upset will not be high but it takes little steps in order to realize larger goals.
Cross Country will be having their District 28-4A Meet in Llano on Thursday with a chance of qualifying for more with a good finish. This is a tough district for this sport and the Hawks will be running an uphill battle.
Volleyball has fallen on some tough times after suffering their 3rd set-back in a row when they lost to Bandera last Friday, 3-1. After starting the district with two wins, a heartbreaking loss to Wimberley has this team searching for their mojo and will look to start this Tuesday when Boerne comes to the Hawk Nest to start the second round robin district schedule.
This second half of the season will need a much better result for a chance of getting a high seed or (gasp) having a chance to make the play-offs.
Llano’s Volleyball team has last place to themselves as your Hawks, Fredericksburg, and Bandera, all fighting for the other 2 spots. The Greyhounds had just one loss in the first round and it was your Hawks that put the blemish on that record.
Canyon Lake has the personnel to push for a stronger finish and that will commence this Tuesday.
The Hawk’s Football team started District 14-4A II with a solid win over Taylor with a strong Burnet team up next. It will be a road game and a strong contingent would be great for this upstart team.
The Lake’s other football teams are enjoying good seasons. The Gold squad tied Fredericksburg last week but had the ball inside the 5 yard line when time expired.
Those same two schools will be at it again this Thursday at the Hawk Nest. This will be the opening match of 3 games with the Hawks Freshman and Junior Varsity team following that Billie game.
Come out and support your Hawks and check out the future players coming up.
Go Hawks!!
