Lady Hawks Natty Natalia, 48-12

Lady Hawks run their record to 11-2 after win over Natalia. Go Hawks. (photo on file by Karen Holmes)

By the time Natalia scored their last point on Tuesday night in their loss to the CL Hawks, those points would have matched what The Lake had scored in that first quarter. If you added up those next 3 quarters then it would give you the difference in this 36 point win, 48-12.

                     Go Hawks!!

“We have tournaments coming up during the break,” Head Coach Zach Burleson stated. “Hopefully we can get back into the swing of things and back into playing shape.”

This year’s Hawk team continues their climb and will have more upcoming games that should hopefully prepare CL for those district battles.

“We still have a lot of work to do and hopefully getting all of these games in during the break will serve us well,” Coach Burleson continued. “For this game, we did a pretty good job of getting out on Natalia’s wings and force some turnovers early. We are still working on our rebounding responsibilities and have to improve in this area-given we are not the tallest group. So we have to really work on focusing on our technique….we did a decent job of running through the offense, but we still have work to do, but not a bad effort.”

The Hawks were led by Chelsea Tschoepe and Sophia Barber scoring 15 and 10 points respectfully, while Madison Harwell cleaned to boards with 7 rebounds while scoring 4 points in this win.

Tschoepe single handily beat Natalia by 3 points while Canyon Lake’s defense had 17 steals in this romp that would keep the Visitors in search for scoring that was never found.

             Way to Go Hawks

After scoring just one basket in that first half, Natalia hill to climb was way to high for switching the tables on the Hawks.

All of the Hawk players were able to secure a rebound after finishing with 33 in the game which is 3 more than this year’s average.

Those 17 steals was the difference that had this snowball becoming an avalanche in no time as the snow kept falling till the end of this contest.

The Hawks will start their Christmas Break and back in action on December 27th when they travel to Kerrville for the Our Lady of the Hills Tournament.

A Boerne Geneva Tournament will start the New Year on January 2nd with their final non-district contest against SA Lutheran at the Hawk Nest.

Canyon Lake’s first district contest will be on the road in Fredericksburg on January 9th.

A lot of upcoming battles with one focus in being ready for the time when those games count.

Go Hawks!!
