Football: All-District and Academic Awards

The Canyon Lake Hawks had 6 players chosen for 1st-2nd Team All-District for this past season. Four of the six players chosen will be back for another year or two as CL will see if they can continue their streak of bettering their .500 mark and run their winning season streak to five years.

There will be a lot of competition for varsity spots which should remind the Hawk Nation of those teams that played 3 years ago.

During this streak, The Lake, has finally wrestled out of the sub-500 percentage and will start their first year with an even win/loss record. After starting their varsity schedule in 2008 they were quickly on the short end of a 1-9 season.

Two Seniors, on the offensive side of the ball in Kyle Yuill (1st Team) and Ethan Slater (2nd Team) turned in good seasons while offensive lineman Junior Eric Teutsch (1st Team) will be those running backs best friend going into his final year.

Sophomore Jeremy Greene had the best receiving year since the slot-t became CL’s staple and had this player garnering a 2nd Team Offensive award.

One more Offensive player that was awarded, Newcomer of the Year, was James Bates who was brought up to varsity and started seeing extensive action as a running back and breaking the 1000 yard barrier joining Zach Henshaw as the only other Sophomore with a 1000 yard campaign on his resume.

Defensive Lineman, Junior Hudson Duke will return in hopes of raising the bar as he was the only Hawk with an award for the district defense as a 2nd Team recipient.
