CL Hawks Softball Fall All Over the Marbles in 5-0 Win

Maddy Puente pitched a shut-out and hit a home-run in win over Marble Falls, 5-0.

The Lady Hawk’s Softball held their own in beating Marble Falls after Maddy Puente homer helped her pitching in this win, 5-0.

“Overall, I think the team played really well last night,” Head Softball Coach Hayley Galloway said. “We had strong pitching in the circle from Maddy Puente and the girls played smart defense behind her. On the offensive side of the ball we struggled move runners early, but after a couple of trips through the line up the kids made the adjustment and started making some solid contact. The bats came to life in the bottom of the 6th, when Maddy hit a 3 run home run to left field.”

Maddy Puente is now the only Hawk player to have a home-run at every grade level while in High School after touching all the bases with her career 7th homer since her freshman season.

Maddy Puente had to be a tired player after throwing 109 pitches in completing all 7 innings while spreading 6 hits and 4 walks in still keeping the Mustangs without a score.

The game was in doubt until CL was able to plate 4 runs in their deciding 6th inning that helped put this game in the win column as The Lake now will go into the Marble Falls Tournament tomorrow with a 2-5 record.

Those numbers might be deceiving after finishing 1-5 in a tough tournament to open the season against 5A and 6A schools. MF is in that 5A category also and that will help this Hawk team knowing that playing those tougher teams might not be a resume builder for that win/loss record but could come in handy later during this season when playing 4A schools.

A good win and now time to go on the road again with 3 games on Thursday.

Go Hawks!!
