Hawks Beat Hondo for a Chance to Win Medina Valley Tournament Tonight
The Hawks will now have one more game in the Medina Valley Tournament after disposing the Hondo Owls, 8-3 and will be back in action tonight.
Canyon Lake opened up the first inning scoring 4 runs which would have been enough for a win. Caleb Williams had a first pitch home-run to open the game and The Lake would add 3 more after some shaky defense from this Owl team.
Ty Sellers started the 3rd inning with a single and a stolen base that allowed Matt Anderson’s single for that score and, 5-0 advantage.
The Hawks would increase the lead in the next inning when Robinson hit a rope over the left field fence with Ethan Slater on base as a courtesy runner after Tyler Pauly worked a walk.
With a 7 run lead, The Lake, would rest Pauly and have Freshman Pitcher Hunter Anderson finish the game working 3 innings and earning his first save for his career and team this season.
CL’s pitching has a impressive 0.79 earned run average after the first 10 games and finished this contest with some shaky defense but a quick lead and Pauly getting his 4th win of the year would be all that was needed in this win.
This puts Canyon Lake with a chance of winning this Tournament when they take the field later tonight.
Way to Go Hawks!!
