MVMS 7A Dominates Danville Wolves, 34-8

Mountain Valley 7A runs out the clock in win over Danville Wolves, 32-8.

Mountain Valley’s 7th grade A team rebounded with a 26 point win over a Danville A squad on Tuesday at the MV stadium, after sustaining their first loss in last week’s contest.

               Let’s Go Hawks!!

“Both teams faced some adversity in the first half,” Head Coach Burger stated. “Both teams were able to overcome it and play a much better second half with both offense and defense executing much better and the results showed.”

The Hawks started the game coming up short on their first drive after using 8 plays in covering 37 yards to Danville’s 21 yard line.

After a good defensive stand the Hawk’s offense set up shop on the Wolves’ 22 yard line where Jace Morales would score his first of 3 touchdowns from 22 yards out.

Morales, who finished with 147 yards rushing, scored on 3 of his 6 carries and covered 126 yards on those scoring sprees. Going with that 22 yard touchdown run, Morales, would add a 45 and 59 yard jaunts showing off speed throughout the contest.

“I had a hard cut to the outside and I heard their player breathing and I knew that I would be able to outrun them to the end zone,” Morales recounted on one of his touchdown runs. “We came out in the second half and just played harder and tougher.”

Jace Morales, Tyler Soza and Carson Gibbons help Hawks get back on winning track in Danville win, 35-8.

With MVMS holding onto a slim 6 point lead, Danville could not solve the Hawks defense before half giving the home team one more chance with seconds remaining before intermission.

The second one-play drive was the result when Morales went untouched 59 yards and after an Eli Hammons run for the extra points, the Hawks, enjoyed a more comfortable, 14-0 halftime advantage.

Starting the 2nd half, Tyler Soza got into the act for the MV defense, with an interception and 60 yard return which was one of two thefts via the Wolves air game on this night. Those two int’s matched the two catches thrown to Danville players.

“I looked for the quarterback and when I saw the quarterback pass I just turned on my wheels and then cut inside and jumped the pass. We will be ready for next week”, Soza said in response to his interception and righting the ship after that first loss the week before.

Mountain Valley’s defense was all over the field, which was typified when Carson Gibbons stopped a 3rd down try with a tackle behind the line of scrimmage stopping a chance for the Wolves to continue their drive with a first down.

The play had a Danville runner scooting to the far sideline when Gibbons took off across the field from the opposite side of the play unhindered in stopping the play for a one yard loss.

“When I first saw the play their running back was going in the opposite direction,” Gibbons said. “I just hit another speed and kept my containment and just hit his shoulder to the left.”

On what this game means for the team? “We did good and we had worked pretty hard this past week and we really wanted to bounce back.”

Another three play and punt sequence for Danville had the Hawks scoring on another explosive play for 45 yards and a Hawk, 26-0 lead with 2 minutes still remaining in the 3rd stanza.

      Go Hawks!!

Next up was another interception to start that final period and setting up Mountain Valley for their final touchdown on a one yard run from Gram Simpson.

With a running clock, Danville would finally get on the scoreboard with less than 10 seconds and this Hawk win.

Next week, Mountain Valley 7th grade will go on the road to Churchill MS for their next Comal Middle School opponent.

Way to Go Hawks!
