                   Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake will be on the road in Burnet as the winner/loser in this game will secure the bottom two seeds (3rd-4th) in the District 13-4A standings.

The Hawks are presently on a two game winning streak in this series and will look to even the game score with a win at 4 games a piece.

Burnet was one of those schools that played Canyon Lake when that first season got going. CL’s first win was in Marble Falls for a Bi-District surprise win over that stalwart Bulldog’s team, 27-20.

When it comes to comparing common opponents, this will look like a game that either team could win based on how well each school can regroup after suffering losses last week. Consistency for each squad has not been smooth and a win should give some glimmer of hope going into the post-season.

Both teams beat Freddie in similar fashion and the losses with Austin LBJ played out bout the same.

Lampasas was challenged by CL with their best result but that was not a great deal of difference for Burnet either. The Bulldogs  had a much closer game than that score indicates. That game had been going well into the 2nd half of play before the separation happened with that Badger talent.

There are three players to keep an eye on for the Bulldogs, starting with running back Marcus Escamilia that will be a down hill rusher when he breaks through the line of scrimmage.

Signature Homes says, Go Hawks!

Burnet has similarities with a lot of Hawk opponents as the Bulldog Quarterback Jaxson Denton who can open the game up with his running and if the Bulldogs want to go to the airwaves, Devonte Miller has been that go to player.

These players will go both ways and that same athleticism will be evident defensively too.

Canyon Lake continues to add players coming off their injury list with each passing week. Last week’s team was able to field an almost full roster against Lampasas last week since practice began in August. That was certainly a boost that helped in keeping that Badger game up in the air and down to those final seconds of that contest.

CL’s defense has been improving with each week and that should go a long way in helping and if that consistency can continue it will be a plus for the Hawks.

Taking care of the ball played dividends last week as The Lake has won the turnover battle in each district outing thus far. That will be a must in this game based on how evenly each team has fared with common opponents.

Some other nuggets for comparison sake comes with offensive yardage gained in district play.

                Total Offense Burnet Canyon Lake
                Lampasas 149 498
                Fredericksburg 359 297
                Austin LBJ 237 280
                Average 248.3 358.3

Win the trenches on both sided of the ball and taking care of the ball will go a long way in placing Canyon Lake as the third seed entering post-season next week.

Go Hawks!!
