             Way to Go Hawks!!

A close loss to Llano last week has this rebuilding year looking more promising with better results for this young and short squad of ladies.

“We will have a size disadvantage in every contest,” Coach Burleson continued. “We are really working on blocking out and trying to secure more rebounds. We have done that one time this year. The other games with Marion, Llano and Providence had that aspect being the difference in those tight games. We have to improve in this area.”

The Hawks were led by Shelby Murphy who just missed a triple double scoring 12 points with 8 steals and 9 rebounds.

San Antonio had a 5 point lead after the first period and the Hawks clamped down defensively which turned to offensive points with steals and many lay-ups to put enough distance for this much needed win.

The Hawks have been in all but one game so far as the Christmas breaks looms in two weeks with a tough district slate to follow.

“Our schedule is getting much tougher now,” Coach Burleson closed. “Blanco and Lytle are both really good. This will be good for us as the pace will be faster and we need that to get us prepared for with is going to be a real tough district.

Canyon Lake will be back in action this Tuesday at home when Blanco comes calling for 5:00pm JV game followed by the Varsity.
