Canyon Lake Girls will be down to their last two games but that last game will not be played until February 8th. The season had more downs that ups with a bevy of young players that have learned how they must improve to get to a level that can realize a more competitive and consistent game.
The Boys Basketball have an outside chance with two important games this week that should give a clearer vision of which teams might be able to make that 4th seed for the post-season.
Davenport and Bandera will be this week’s games and both of these schools will be the variables in the Hawk’s equation on who makes the playoffs.
CL beat Davenport and that same team has now beaten Bandera twice. That same Bulldog team beat Canyon Lake in the first round.
Of the two games the Davenport contest will be the must win contest. A loss to the Wolves will seal CL’s doom as Davenport will own the tie-breaker by beating Bandera and the best CL could do is split with both schools.
Clear as mud?
The Lake’s Tennis season will start on Friday with a 4 team tournament starting at 8:30am at the Hawk Nest. Should be a good test in seeing just how good this group of players will be for this year.
This tournament will be just the Varsity with the Junior Varsity starting the next week.
Speaking of first games, the Softball Ladies will start at Austin Anderson on Tuesday and then their first home contest will be on Friday when Smithville comes calling.
Softball lost some valuable players to graduation but there are some key players returning with a few Freshman that will be able to get their first High School action. Should be fun as Softball has added a needed pitching coach with Coach Carter with a tough task with that one position that can make or break a team.
Baseball will go on the road this Saturday with a scrimmage with the Cuero Gobblers with a first pitch commencing at Noon.
Roll up your sleeves as the Track Season will get going two weeks later.
Fun Times, look at the schedule and come out and catch a game and cheer on the Go Hawks!!
