CL Hawk’s Shut-Out SA Jay, 6-0 to Advance in SAISD Tourney

Next stop has Canyon Lake facing South San Antonio on Saturday at Noon after Tyler Pauly & Peyton McMullen combined for a 3 hit shut-out over San Antonio Jay, 6-0.

             Way to Go Hawks!!

Pauly helped his cause leading the Hawks matching Jay’s 3 hits with 3 of his own, as each phase of the game was in sync as the pitching was complimented with 11 hits and only one error in the win.

“We will take it,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said when asked to comment on all 3 phases being on in this win. “We are playing a really good team next.”

Pauly’s 3 hitter win was his 6th consecutive win and CL continues to find ways to win as they have now won 14 of their last 15 games with a chance to continue their streak with two games on Saturday.

There were 3 more Hawks with multiple hits to join Pauly with James LaLonde, Tanner Schultz, and Gunnar Walker joining an offensive production that raised CL’s team batting average up to .315 going into tomorrow’s contest.

Giving up 8 earned runs in the opening game had Canyon Lake with their highest era in two years but now with the last two games giving up 2 earned runs has the team era at 2.96 which will help when this team averages 9.5 runs per game after this game.

Just one error has led to a .934 fielding percentage which has risen with the last 3 games having the Hawks reducing those fielding mistakes.

The Hawks will need to combine all three phases of the game tomorrow as that first match-up with SAVIO will be a big hurdle to clear for a chance to play for the SAISD Championship with a win.
