CLJV Baseball Come Back with a 5 Run Second Inning in Win over East Central, 6-4

Tristan Roberts and Gibby Martinez were instrumental in Hawks win over East Central.

Canyon Lake continued their fast start this year after beating East Central, 6-4 as the Hawks used a 5 run second inning to wrestle their 3 run deficit into a win over this tough foe.

Bade Holland walked 8 but giving up just one hit minimized the damage as Holland settled down in his last two innings with no damage.

Zach Elson and Gibby Martinez had power bats with doubles helping in this comeback win along with not committing any errors that came in handy to go along with allowing that one hit.

“When I go to bat, I act like I am mad at the pitcher,” Martinez said while at acting school. “When I do that, it makes me focus more and try to get a big hit. That helped with my double today.”

That big hit stemmed the EC tide and allowed these Hawks to fly high for a well deserved win.

Tristan Roberts led with two hits while the Hawks flew to second base with 6 steals on this day.

“Coach tells us to make the pitcher pay and that is the approach I take to the plate,” Roberts said when recalling his multiple hit game. “It has helped me stay focused every time I go to the plate.”

That plate started full but it was cleaned after taking the lead and holding on for this win.

The Hawks Junior Varsity continue to play a good game with a 6-1 record and will be back in action this Monday when the Green and Gold teams take on Wimberley with the Gold Team first pitch starts at 4:30pm and the Green squad get going 2 hours later.
