These next two weeks will be filled with anticipation as Canyon Lake embarks on a trek that has never led for a chance of winning a Baseball district championship.
That would be possible if Canyon Lake can sweep their next two opponents that starts this week against a winless Bandera club. That championship with a sweep could be shared with Wimberley if they are able to sweep their next two schools.
The Texans have a date with Davenport this week and a sweep would have them facing Boerne that last week. If Davenport sweeps Wimbo then they would be only one game behind CL and a chance to be crowned champion in their first year of competition for UIL Trophies.
Boerne and Freddie have two games this week and a split or sweep with any school would continue the orchestrating of puzzle scissors crafting a team somewhere different in the District 28-4A Standings. With 5 of the 6 teams battling it out for one of those 4 post-season bids and increasing the pressure for all the teams.
In just stating the facts, Canyon Lake facing a team without a win and only three games that has had Bandera’s opponent not reaching a 10 run or more win. One of those games was this past week when the Wolves were able to win but just by 4 runs (6-2) that could lend some material for Hawk Coaches to keep CL not to take any team lightly.
If Canyon Lake can sweep the Bulldogs this week then this time next week should have the district standings having teams playing musical chairs on where they might be when all the games are in the books.
A good time for the Hawk Nation who are in rarified air as taking a deep breath is a pre-requisite.
Let’s Go Hawks!!
