Mountain Valley Hawks Boy’s Golf Win 3-Team Tourney
Mountain Valley Golf team are teeing it up this year with a slew of players that continue to improve as individuals and team. MV has not swung the clubs with records in mind and this year’s team has lowered that bar thru better scoring.
“We have a good group that really enjoy playing the game,” Head Golf Coach Hopper said. “They show up to team practices and several of them get together end play outside of scheduled school practices. Multiple parents have told me they chip in their backyards in the evening. Hard working players and supportive parents make my job as the coach a lot easier. This has been an extremely fun group to coach.”
Mountain Valley hosted a three school tournament and finished ahead of Smithson Valley MS and Churchill Middle School.
Team Scores Mountain Valley 188 Smithson Valley 191 Churchill 212
Each team scores come from the top 4 for each tournament as this year’s MV team has 8 players giving a chance for better scores. There are certainly bad days and good days that are more pronounced in golfing and greater numbers helps in covering up those bad days on the links.
Tristan Evans shot a 41 that not only led the contingent for these Hawks but Evans was the Medalist winning the tourney. This was a first for MV as the season heads into the 18th hole with two tourneys remaining.
MVMS will be back in action this Tuesday at Rebecca Creek and will be competing with Oak Run, Peiper, and Churchill.
