Sub-Varsity Volleyball will be fun to watch this season as the Green (JV) and Gold (Freshman) start this season.

             Let’s Hit Em Hard Hawks!

The Green team does has some freshman but for the most part the Gold is predominantly part of a good contingent of ladies ready to make their mark during their high school careers.

This Green Hawk Squad did win a set against 6A Clemons last week which is a powerhouse for that classification. CL Green won the first set, 25-22 and then just missed out in that second set, 23-25 before running out of gas for a 2-1 loss.

Against Poth on Tuesday, the Hawks spotted the Pirates to a 9 point lead in their first set before rebounding and winning 27-25.

In that second set, CL was able to control the game the whole way and taking these Pirates to their plunge to the ocean winning, 25-19.

“We got in a rut,” Head Green Coach Hayley Melone stated. “I was pleased in the way they worked through it and we fixed our mistakes.”

“I am expecting more growth,” Coach Melone said in response to what she wants as the season continues. “We will get better as we go through this year!”

Cheyenne Fields takes it all in after playing a solid game in win over the Poth Pirates.

Cheyenne Fields was one of those Hawk players that played her ‘A’ game on this day.

“We started to talk more and not watch the game but play the game and took action,” Fields commented on how the team made their turn-a-round in that first set in overcoming a 9 point deficit.

On how it feels to start the year at the freshman level, “We are starting to get it down and I am starting to notice how well we are playing if we can just continue to have energy and communicate.”

Canyon Lake’s Gold team was successful coming from behind to take the final two sets in beating Poth for their first win of the year. (22-25, 25-16, 25-22)

Way to Go Hawks!!
