Canyon Lake Cross Country Qualify Two Runners for State

Cadence Patterson takes the podium after a 3rd Place Finish at Region IV XC

Canyon Lake Cross Country reached a milestone when two athletes represented the Hawk Nation by having both qualify for State.

Another opportunity to show strength at State next.

“On a stifling, sweltering day in Corpus Christi our Cross Country (XC) runners gutted out two outstanding performances,” Head XC Coach Michael Schroeder stated with exuberance. “We discussed that mental toughness would give each of them a chance to be successful, PR (Personal Record) and possibly medal or at least advance.”

Coach Schroeder continued, “We couldn’t ask more and couldn’t be any prouder of their efforts today. Tremendous to qualify in the State of Texas to compete at the State Championship.

Cadence Patterson (12:06,54) finished 3rd and Alek Villavicencio (18:02,54) finished 14th and will both advance to The Rock for State.

Cross Country, Phoenix from the ashes of past seasons will now for the first time have two athletes with a chance to reach higher goals at the pinnacle with one last run after starting their sojourn 3 months ago during the heat of Summer.

Congrats to Cadence and Alek and Go (Pace Yourself) Hawks!!
