CL Hawks Take it On the Chin in Loss to Calallen, 5-0

       Hawks will be back need to get right quick with more games coming. After set-back to Calallen.

Canyon Lake found out how much they need to improve as this season continues after being whitewashed, 5-0 at the hands of 5th Ranked Calallen Wildcats.

            Let’s Bounce Back Hawks!!

“Coming in here we knew that we would be playing in their environment and we needed to take the game to them,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said matter-of-factly. “We needed to be aggressive early in the count…we can’t set back and let them dictate.”

Coach Escamilla continued, “They are a pretty good and they stayed at the plate but we just need to find a way to work and learn on the things that we can do better with.”

CL ended the game with 7 total baserunners for the game which led to having those players left on base due to not having consistency in the lineup to get runs across the plate. The reason? How bout 12 strikeouts doing the trick keeping The Lake scoreless.

Texas A&M pitcher Justin Lampkin was as advertised standing at 6’4 from the mound that did not leave much time for decision making for the Hawk batters.

The Wildcats next pitcher, Nate Lopez, was just as dominant after matching Lampkin’s strikeout totals.

Chase Anderson was one Hawk that was in sync rapping a double and single while Hunter Anderson single with Jeremy Greene’s double accounted for all the Hawk’s damage against this state ranked opponent.

Canyon Lake will play their final game on this Corpus baseball tour and will be home this next Tuesday against Central Catholic.
