CL Hawks > Than Harlingen Cardinals, 12-3

Hawks Run Rule Harlingen in Comal Clash Final.

The Hawks finished their Comal Clash by run ruling Harlingen Cardinals, 12-3 on a Hayden Baker 2 hitter and Griffen William’s 3rd home run during this tournament.

                Way to Go Hawks!

The middle of The Lake’s batting order (Williams & Tanner Schultz) combined for 5 of CL’s 8 hits for this win.

Both batter’s are presently tied as the best average for CL with a .526 percentage on 10 hits on 19 plate appearances. For Williams, 7 of those hits, went for extra bases accounting for 12 rbi’s. (runs batted in)

Coach Victor Escamilla commented on his takes from these past 5 games, “I was pleased with our hitting with what we saw with our opponents pitching and we hit well…but we still have things we need to work on and keep making progress.”

Harlingen started this game with some fireworks of their own with a 2-run homer during the first inning but CL would respond scoring 3 runs on 3 hits on their half of that frame.

GO HAWKS & Vote in May for runoff.

Williams matched the Cardinals’ 2 run homer with one of his own with two outs in the 2nd and increased the Hawk, 5-2 lead.

The Cards scored a run without a hit on their next at bat which still had a game in limbo, 5-3 and CL would not score on their half of that same inning.

This was the 5th tournament game in 3 days and that will have teams using duct tape for pitchers and by this battle Harlingen went deep into their bullpen for bringing potential pitchers to the mound.

Baker showed the difference for Hawk’s 5th starter compared to other teams.

That had CL scoring 7 runs on that next inning by sending 11 Hawks to the plate scoring 7 runs while Baker continued his strong showing in finishing the game facing 17 straight batters without giving up a hit.

“I came out to lead and try to take over with strikeouts and get a win,” Baker said like a dozen.

On what was taken away from this tournament: “We learned that we have confidence and can compete with anyone we play….We need to be mentally prepared and come out everyday to get better and kick teams in the butt.”

Canyon Lake will have a home date next Tuesday against SA Cole with start time at 7:00pm. The Hawks will be in their 3rd and final tournament starting next Thursday with scheduled games:
