Canyon Lake could not get over the hump after a Needville 3 run 5th inning and bowed out of this year’s Post-Season after a, 4-2 loss.

           Great Season Hawks!!

This series would become the first team to reach 4 runs being the winner as pitching would have the upper hand during most of this series.

The Lake came into this series with a team .331 batting average only to see that mark being reduced regardless the outcome to a .314 mark.

In this loss, CL outhit the Blue Jays but it was the fielding that doused any hope of Canyon Lake making plans for another playoff round.

All of those errors accumulated during that 5th inning in the outfield which led to those 3 runs for the Blue Jays.

Tanner Schultz finished his career with two hits and a walk while playing first and third base but getting those clutch hits would not come on this hot day.

The Hawks scored their first run without a hit as 3 walks and a balk scored Brayden Welch who started this frame with one of those free passes and scored on a balk. Canyon Lake left two runners in scoring position which seemed to be that main problem for this series.

In the next inning, The Lake, had a lead-off hit by pinch-hitter Brody Ross who would be sacrificed to 2nd base by a Chase Anderson bunt and then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch.

                  Great Season Hawks!!

A Hunter Anderson fly out scored Ross who finished this season scoring 29 runs with most of those coming as a courtesy base runner, this run came about the usual way.

That would be all the damage offensively for CL as Needville’s pitching would continue to dominate by holding the Hawks to a series, .171 batting average.

That put pressure on pitching and defense and not having two of those three working had CL coming up short.

It was another season reaching 20 wins with more good years ready to be unleashed.

Canyon Lake will say good-bye to some great Senior players but there is still a good nucleus returning for another run next season.

“We started two Seniors and we have a good group coming back,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said matter of factly. “They have a love for the game and they love to compete and we can’t let our last game define our season!”

“I’m Proud of their accomplishments,” Coach Escamilla closed.

Thanks Coach now go have a Great Summer & Go Hawks!!
