Hawk’s Look to Improve this Volleyball Season

Hawk’s Volleyball is all thumbs up before that dreaded mile run.

Canyon Lake’s Volleyball squad will have a quick few days before their season gets going next week with an always tough 3 team round-robin with Clemens and Liberty Hill on Tuesday.

                 Go Hawks & Fly High!!

After a forgettable last two campaigns that was composed of two losing seasons coupled with Covid hurdles helping derail any hope of a solid season has Head Coach Kim Clemons with a resolute, “We will be better this year!!”

Coach Clemons enters her 9th year at the helm for The Lake and has totaled 189 wins with that high water mark back during that 2015 season finishing undefeated in district play for the first District Championship for any sport for what was a 7 year old school during that time.

There has been a lot of drama these past few years and hopefully this season can keep all those bells and whistles out of sight and sound for realizing a more consistent and focused time on the court.

“We need to be more consistent and work on our mental game,” Assistant Coach Hayley Melone chipped in. “That led to a year where we had a hard time closing….we just have to learn how to work.”

Canyon Lake was able to start some big time matches with some early wins but could not get that 3rd set victory for that much needed momentum changer.

“We need to win all the way across,” Coach Clemons chimed in. “It is all a mindset but we are quicker and more athletic and we will need to work on our, finishing-conditioning- and service.

….We did have the varsity finish their mile run quicker and getting that goal was good to see!”

                  Go Hawk Volleyball.

Canyon Lake will scrimmage at Blanco this Friday at 10am and then will follow that up with another road scrimmage with Lehman for a 9am start time.

CL’s season will start against two good programs a 5A Liberty Hill and 6A Clemons on Tuesday August 9th starting at 10am at the Hawk Nest.

Then that always tough Tex-Fest Wimberley tournament on Friday-Saturday which should give the Hawk Nation a good idea of how this season can get settled in to make Coach Clemons a soothsayer with her comment for this group of Ladies being better than those last two years….

Let’s Go Hawks!!
