CLJV had Fumble-itis in Loss to East Central, 33-22

CLJV Offensive Line bull dozes Ryder Hopper across the goal line.

Canyon Lake JV fumbled away their chance to pull off a win over 6A East Central who enjoyed a 14 point 4th quarter rally for a win, 33-22

                Way to Go Hawks!!

The Hawks won the statistical battle and finished this game without a punt. The bad news was losing 4 fumbles which took away chances of getting into the punt formation.

CL’s second play was a lost fumble and followed that up with a one play fumble later in the 3rd quarter after the Hawks had fought back for a lead, 16-13.

The Hornets only needed to travel 12 yards for pay dirt and taking the lead back, 19-16.

The Lake responded on a 7 play 70 yard drive to take their lead back, 22-19, This drive used 3 explosive plays on an 18 yard Joey Wilson first play run and then Rand Ahlman rambled 13 yards to the 2 yard line.

QB Ryder Hopper took that final yard when the backfield helped in pushing Hopper over the goal-line.

Receiver Mason Paananen had the only reception which accounted for 39 yards on that same drive that helped put CL in position for that touchdown.

(L-R) Joey Wilson, Rand Ahlman, & Naravich Po-Ngern.

Fumble-itis would take the stage next in a bad way as Canyon Lake lost two on consecutive possessions which allowed East Central to travel 15 yards for their go ahead score, 33-27 with just 2:30 remaining in this contest.

A decent day for the Hawks running plays averaging 5.5 yards per carry which allowed time of possession  for Canyon Lake but too many miscues with the snap would be the undoing in this set-back and holding onto the ball.

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity has a two year streak in winning district and defending that crown will be up next when the Hawks meet Marble Falls in two weeks.
