District 13-4A Division I continues with an impressive 5 teams that have a .500 record or better with Davenport (4-0) leading the pack without a loss.

                            GO HAWKS!!

Canyon Lake (0-3) is still searching for their first win with another larger school (6A East Central) on the road this coming Friday.

Three teams in district are averaging over 40 points per outing and those schools have a combined, 10-2 record thus far.

Davenport Wolves have played teams with a combined 5-10 record and their next opponent is Devine (4-0) who’s opponent sport a 3-13 combined record.

Thus that old sage question states, how bad does a Davenport need to beat a bad team, to convince future school’s the team will be legit?  But one item that will be present with these type of teams is confidence for those future Friday nights coming up.

Lampasas (3-1) and Taylor (3-1) arre in the same boat as the Wolves in playing teams without an impressive resume.

The Badger’s only loss was to Elgin (3-1) who CL scrimmaged….a good team but it was evident CL did come out of that battle as a better team.

                           Let’s Go Hawks!!

Those other 3 schools LHS has beaten have a combined, 0-10-1 slate which would not pose any sweat needing to be wiped off their brow.

Taylor loss came to Gatesville (3-1) and the Ducks other 3 schools were, 4-8 with one being from a 3A classification.

Suffice to say that these top 3 teams in District 13-4A have not proven if they have real or fool’s gold in their bag.

Burnet & Marble Falls (2-2) are both even-steven and Burnet presently has the more convincing schedule.

                 BREAKING Them DOWN
                 Opponents Rec Results
Marble Falls 5A Connally (0-4) W 52-07
                 Brownwood (3-1) L 16-55
              5A Chaparral (0-4) W 22-15
              5A Tivy (2-2) L 21-28
                           (5-11)

Burnet La Vernia (2-2) W 36-25
              3A Llano (4-0) L 21-29
                 Brownwood (3-1) L 20-33
                 Giddings (1-3) W 28-07
                          (10-6)

CL Hawks Wimberley (4-0) L 14-21
              5A Champion (2-2) L 36-44
              5A Veterans (3-1) L 28-31
                           (9-3)

Bottom line is knowing that Canyon Lake’s schedule does not have any patsies with this upcoming SA East Central (2-2) who has similar speed that Veterans had and will be another high hurdle for these Hawks.

A Road game to boot should prove to be a good barometer going into a bye week before district play begins.

You can judge by looking at those above showings and  this is not ‘Coach Speak’ with every opponent you are playing has a, 10-0 record with no weakness. We are far enough into a season to tell what type of team you are facing.

That one suspended game with the Billies showed that they aren’t a team that is a push over after suffering a, 14-17 set-back to Wimberley last Saturday.

Enough said…..Go Hawks and take down a 6A school this week.
