             ========================================================

                     Let’s Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake last faced a 6A school during their 2017 season against Austin Akins. That 2 game series had The Lake sweeping the Eagles and will now face a 6A school from San Antonio.

East Central is a decent team and will not be the same version as what those Austin schools presented back in the day.

In fact, these Hornets, will look much like what Veterans Memorial put on the field last week. Speed at the Quarterback position with Austin Vivier who leads the team in rushing and has scored 9 touchdowns with 8 of those touchdowns on the ground.  Kenyon McClure is second in rushing and is averaging right over 4 yards per carry. Avery Cane and Samuel Padgitt will be the go to receivers for this Hornet team.

Defensively the Hornets are giving up an average of 329 yards per outing and it is almost even as EC has allowed 160 by air and 170 rushing per game.

Offensively, East Central averages 221 total yards per game and rushing is their forte (141 yds per game) and just 80 yards passing.

A little more simple for CL’s defense this week as most of this offense is coming from QB Austin Vivier.

                    Way to go Hawks!!

This would be a good week to see a score during the first 12 minutes of.a contest. The Hawks have yet to score during that first quarter while giving up 51 points by the defense.

Canyon Lake had 5 players that have broken 100 yards rushing with Heliljah Johnson leading the way with 218 yards. CL has two receivers over 100 yards with Griffen Williams leading with 7 receptions for 117 yards. Chase Anderson has over 100 yards rushing and receiving who will pose a problems for opposing defenses.

Scoring during the first half is an imperative goal as The Lake is averaging 6.3 points going into halftime and right at 20 points per outing after halftime.

The Hawks are going into their 2nd quarter down an average of, 17-0 and that has been the major reason for that,  0-3 start for this season.

East Central is beatable and this team will be better than that Austin Akins club 5 years ago but starting slow has to change or any game played this year will be tough to pull off.

Let’s Go Hawks!!
