The Canyon Lake Freshman Green team ran away from Lake Travis Cavaliers proving that a Canyon lake is better than a Travis lake in the greater scheme whitewashing the visitors, 35-15.

CL started the contest with a 9 play 67 yard possession that was highlighted when Jace Morales broke free on his 28 yard run to paydirt that had The (Canyon) Lake with a quick, 7-0 lead after Jack Stracener was successful with his point after attempt.
Yes, we will get this over with here to save redundancy…Stracener was perfect for the night for that point after attempt (pat) category.
Travis’ Lake was quick with their response by taking to the air and using just 4 plays for their first score who used a look-in pass for 53 yards and a tied game, 7-7.
The (Canyon) Lake would score on 5 of their 6 possessions that kept the pressure on the Cavaliers and CL’s next score used 9 plays this time for 66 yards and the lead would not be in trouble again, 14-7 advantage.
Travis’ Lake would lose two fumbles and never got their footing again until their final drive when using a pass play for 20 yards but from there the Hawks would milk the clock that basically drained the Lake in Travis for a Canyon Lake victory.

Defense was stellar after working out some rough spots with the defensive backs after the Lake Travis QB started the game completing 6 out of his first 8 throws and accumulated 100 yards. But this battle would favor the home team keeping LT with 37 yards through the air the rest of this game while continuing to control the Cavaliers run game.
On CL’s offensive side, it was pound the rock play after play after play (throw in one pass to Ben Parma for 13 yards) and then play after play after play…..finishing with 335 yards on the ground and whatever might have been floating on Lake Travis for a resting spot underwater.
Canyon Lake finished with two runners topping the century mark with Cash Ziemba (125 yds) and Jace Morales (102 yds) and used a host (6) of other running backs to tote the ball and eat up time and yardage.
Impressive display for a team that will be in action one last time when Lampasas comes to the Hawk Nest next Thursday.
