Mountain Valley 7A&B Come up Short against Unicorns

Mountain Valley 7th grade came up short with both teams as the Unicorns were more efficient during the 4th quarter which stretched their lead in the ‘A’ game and allowed a 14 point comeback for that ‘B’ squad battle.

Now for the good news was seeing Archer Miller continue his hot start to this season reaching
148 yards that had 54 and 80 yard runs. Those two plays had this Hawk team trailing by just 2 points with more than 3 minutes remaining in the game.
But Mtn. Valley gave up 2 more touchdowns that was sandwiched with a turnover and Oak Run scored with no time remaining on the clock, 32-16.
In that ‘B’ contest, The Lake MV team, had taken the air out of the ball in that first half controlling the clock and game when Galvin Walker snuck across the goal line from 2 yards out for the only score leaving 19 seconds before intermission.
Mountain Valley used a 14 play drive that covered 79 yards which drained all but 19 seconds during that 2nd quarter.
MVMS had 22 plays compared to the Unicorns’ 5 snaps and Hawk advantage, 6-0.
That 2nd half started in that same fashion when MV’s defense controlled ORMS first drive forcing 3 negative plays and giving up just an 8 yard pass. The result was great field position.

These Hawks drained the rest of that 3rd period using 11 plays on thier 2nd scoring drive when Walker called his number again…this time a 2 yard sneak and Hawk, 12-0 lead with 4:39 remaining.
Then ‘IT’ happened when the Unicorns had a two play score from 41 yards out and more IT’s continued with two consecutive lost fumbles on the Hawks first snap which resulted in a win for the IT’s….
What else could you call an Unicorn? IT was all they needed in a game that was controlled by the Good Guys but whatever a Unicorn is good for was enough in this 2 point loss, 14-12.
