Canyon Lake’s Boys Basketball won their 5th game this season and have crafted a 5-5 record going into the final phase before district starting up.

                     Make it count Hawks!!

In their game against Llano, The Lake, were able to hold their clamps on the Yellowjackets winning, 48-38 with Carter Williams leading a balanced scoring attack with 10 points.

Canyon Lake was never behind in this win as Garrett Spruiell, Mario Aguilar and Carter Williams were started this affair that sprinted out to a, 7-3 lead in those first 3 minutes of action.

“We did a good job defensively,” Head Coach Monte Cole started. “Guys are understanding more and more what we’re trying to do on that end.”

Coach Cole continued, “Still working through things offensively but making progress.”

On thoughts on this season where Canyon Lake has already passed their win total from the past two seasons in the Llano conquest.

  MIMA’s TACOS LOVES THE HAWKS!!

“On the season, we’re headed in the right direction. We have some good depth and guys buying in to their roles. Just need to continue to improve with district around the corner.”

The Hawks had 9 different players scoring and that had Aguilar (9 Reb) leading in rebounds and the Williams’ Brothers (Griffen & Carter 8 Rebounds) with help filling the stat sheet.

Carter Williams had two blocks for CL on the defensive side too.

Aguilar had been a difference maker thus far in averaging 11 points per outing while leading The Lake with rebounds (55) and steals (15).

“Mario (Aguilar) can be put against any player on the court defensively,” Coach Cole admonished.

That’s the difference this season as defense does not have cold nights if the players can step it up each game which was Coach Cole’s battle plans while coaching in Houston with a defense allowed his teams to be in all games played.

Newcomer Jaxson Jeter has also added depth at the guard position and leads the Hawks in dishing assists with 23 this year.

Canyon Lake’s next action will be in a Taylor Tournament this week.

Way to Go Hawks!!
