CL Hawks Baseball Finish, 2-2 Record in Sinton Tourney

Canyon Lake Baseball came back with some humble pie after starting their season in Sinton and participating against a team that hosted this affair that is ranked 1st in the State of Texas in the 4A division.

What started as an eye opener win over Rockport-Fulton, 13-0 the Hawks then started on their dessert of Humble Pie losing 2 of their next 3 games while scoring a combined 5 runs in those three battles.

The Hawks batted a combined .181 average and worked 7 walks while striking out 28 times during those 3 helpings of pie.

“We played some good competition this weekend,” Head Baseball Coach Victor Escamilla stated. “We saw some good things but our defense has to catch up. Our guys will continue to work as we continue to find the best combination of players to back up our top two pitchers.”

It certainly wasn’t a total loss finishing the weekend breaking even with a, 2-2 record that had two of the teams played picked to win their district and those other two being penciled in for making the playoffs.

The Lake will be back in action this Tuesday at home playing Southwest Legacy and then continue into the weekend at that same school that is hosting their tournament. The first pitch will be at 7:00pm and seeing a buffet of food without the dessert, will be the intent, as this season works on continuing to improve.

CL Hawks will work on a better diet and get away from the dessert while going back to those basics of meat and potatoes.
