CL Hawk’s Qualify 2 For State Swimming Meet

 

Leaving everyone in their wake,  Canyon Lake qualified two for the State Championship, a first for the Hawk Nation.

Levi Garner and Caleigh Krystyniak were those two swimmers that will have one more dip in the pool this week, February 9th-10th.

“Both Caleigh (Krystyniak) and Levi (Garner) are both terrific student-athletes and are a testament of how being dedicated and having a strong work ethic will pay dividends,” Head Swimming Coach Page Small commented. “Both spend numerous hours every week throughout the year practicing and competing to improve their technique, conditioning, and times to become the best swimmers they can be.”

Coach Small continued, “We are all very excited for Caleigh and Levi here at CLHS and are extremely proud of their accomplishments. Go Hawks!!”

According to Coach Small the CL Boy’s Swim finished as Runner-Up to Davenport at the District 14-4A Championships on Jan. 20th @ Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.

Top 4 in each event qualified for Region Championships. Levi Garner finished as Swimmer of the Meet capturing 1st place finishes in both of his events.

Canyon Lake qualified both Boys and Girls 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays, as well as, Boys 400 Freestyle Relay.

Girls Individual qualifiers for Region: Caleigh Krystyniak, 12th (200 I.M., 100 Breaststroke), Madilyn Wilson, 11th (200 Free, 500 Free).

Boys Individual qualifiers for Region: Levi Garner, 10th (200 I.M., 100 Breastroke), Conner McCullagh, 12th (50 Free, 100 Free), Nate Morris, 10th (100 Free), Ian Morris, (200 Free).
Additional Boys Relay swimmers include: Carlie Coley – 12th, Milo Martin-Rider – 10th.

Additional Girls Relay swimmers include: Emorie Jones – 10th, Kaylee Caraway – 9th, Madison Hunter – 12th.

Region Results: Jan. 27-28 @ Southwest ISD Aquatic Center, San Antonio

Both Levi Garner (3rd place – 200 I.M., 6th place – 100 Breaststroke)and Caleigh Krystyniak (8th place – 200 I.M.) had times fast enough to qualify Top 16 for the 4A Texas State Swimming Championships.

This is a first for Canyon Lake to send swimmer’s to the State Championship. In addition, Boy’s finished 10th and Girls finished 15th at 4A Region.

4A State Championships will be held on Feb. 9,10 at Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
