Back during the 2021 season, The Lake, had just started their district season and had a loss to Fredericksburg, 4-3. That game was as the end of a Hawk 8 game team hitting slump and already reaching two losses in district.

Go Hawks, Now Let’s Get Some HITS!!

That stretch of games was littered with a, 1-0 loss to Wimberley a, 2-0 win over Mathis, etc….in total Canyon Lake had scored 13 runs during that stretch. A balmy (sarcasm) .224 batting average— .342 on base average—.290 slugging percentage is not a resume you would have people predicting a district championship before bowing out of the post-season with a loss to Navarro in the 3rd round.

CL was all business from that point scoring in double figures 6 out of their next 8 district battles and hanging up a banner with championship ribbons for all to see.

Did that Hawk team forget those losses and dismal batting drought or were those episodes  remembered to be forged into a new motivation to get better?

Fast forward to another loss to Fredericksburg and suffering their first shut-out this season and leaving the stadium in unbelief.

Canyon Lake has a trough load of weapons at their disposal and remembering how to use those tools during this time will be paramount. The Hawks have a several big games upcoming this week in a tournament which will be the last before district starts in earnest.

Hawk players left that Billies game in shock and either contemplated forgetting it all together or, on the flip side, remembering that feeling but either way a player copes with that game will need to be unwrapped quickly as their schedule will be going into hyper speed this Thursday.

How the Hawk’s deal with this slump will be unveiled soon but forgetting or remembering and how individuals use those coping skills will be needed to overcome this set-back and a chance to get this season back on track.

Either way….make it work and Let’s GO HAWKS and forge new memories!!

Game Stats below for the Hawks to use as a remembrance or if you are a forgetter then you can shut down this article NOW!!
