Canyon Lake stumbled out of the blocks in their loss to Bellville after surrendering 3 runs in the top of the first which was enough cushion in holding on for a, 4-3 win in game one of this best of 3 series.

Four pitches and a 2-0 deficit when the Brahmas’ Tyler Fishbeck hit a homer. CL’s doldrums continued in that same inning after two consecutive errors helped tack on that final run and a, 3-0 start.

While the Hawks could only account for a walk thru those first 3 innings as Bellville’s starter Cole Neumann needed only 21 pitches during that same stretch.

Hunter Anderson was able to break that streak with a lead-off double in the 4th (tying for 2nd place with Coach Travis Walker with 19) and then scoring on a Griffen Williams’ single that went off the wall making this a 2 run game, 3-1.

Bellville responded with the help of 2 more Hawk errors in retaking a 3 run advantage in the top of the 5th frame.

The Lake was not through tho when Travis Parma had a two-out double in the bottom of that same inning and then Chase Anderson reached on an error that was followed with a Hunter Anderson infield single. During that at bat was when Parma would race home on a wild pitch.

Hunter Anderson has now reached base safely for 28 straight games and finished with 2 hits in this contest.

Griffen Williams had another towering hit that led to his lead-off triple in that next inning. Roman Gonzales would be his courtesy runner and scored when Hayden Baker hit a double (11th for the season that is tied with Griffen Williams (2022) and one behind Tyler Pauly back in 2021.

Brayden Welch continued with a single but was left stranded with Baker after 2 strikeouts and a fly out.

Canyon Lake would have one more chance when Chase Anderson led off the 7th with a walk. A stolen base and pass ball gave CL one more chance for tying the game.

Three more strikeouts would end the inning and game for Canyon Lake with Fishbeck throwing nothing but fast-balls that the Hawks could not catch up to.

Make Us Proud HAWKS!!

Weather will certainly play into Saturday’s plans on settling this series and if the next game is postponed then the UIL has granted the series to be decided next Monday.

The Hawks have lost 2 straight games twice this season the last happened at the start of district play against Freddie and Boerne. That first two-game losing streak was against two ranked teams in Sinton (#1st) and Taylor (#10th).

Not a clean game fielding for Canyon Lake but Center-Fielder Brayden Welch kept CL in the thick of things for that final inning when he fielded a single and threw a strike to home plate for that final out and keeping the Brahmas’ lead to one run.

Now needing two wins for a chance to continue their season.

Let’s Go Hawks!!
