Nothing to Brag About After 2 Shut-Outs for Hawk’s Sub-Varsity
Canyon Lake’s Sub-Varsity teams had very little to boast about after both teams were shut-out to start their season against the Wimberley Texans.
CL’s Freshman crew could only muster 15 yards of total offense while the Hawk’s Junior Varsity racked up 86 yards to their credit.
Both of the Texans’ teams reached the end-zone on their first play from scrimmage with a 56 yard pass (JV) and 60 yard run (Freshman). It would be all down hill from there until that final buzzer.
The Lake’s Freshman did play a better 2nd half giving up 19 total yards which can be used for motivation entering their next contest on the road in Fredericksburg next Thursday.
Another tidbit was seeing a new kid on the block, Patrick Goodman (who was interviewed on instagram/twitter feed). It was his very first football game to suit up and his uniform was filled out nicely with the word, ‘Potential’!
A balmy 6’2 and 245 lbs. of potential that will be fun to see mature as this season progresses.
For the Junior Varsity, the Hawks, were able to ‘sandwich’ a few decent plays but both sides of the ball was not consistent enough to find any momentum as Wimberley has shown throughout this Backbone series that a slot-t offense is nothing but a tooth-pick for their defense to use after downing that ‘sandwich’ meal.
CL’s JV will be in Freddie next week for a chance to show some improvement as their season looks for better results.

Go Get’em Next Week & Go Hawks!!
