Hawks Button Up for Opening Season in Wimberley
Hawks have one week of work before the next chapter opens up. Let’s Go Hawks!
Canyon Lake showed improvement in their last dress rehearsal before meeting up with State Ranked Wimberley on their turf this coming Friday.

The Lake will be embarking against a team that accumulated a lot of skins on their wall with many of those hides coming from a Hawk.
A few years ago (2014) your Hawks took the Marion Bulldogs to the woodshed when they had one of their top 3 defensive efforts yardage wise in disposing Marion, 38-6.
That next season, Canyon Lake went to Marion with confidence that they might be able to accomplish that same type of contest. This Bulldog team had revamped their offense and this battle morphed into a brawl with a Visiting Lake leaving with a, 55-50 loss tattooed to their hind quarters.
Wimberley is certainly in a different class than Marion but this point is on how fast this school was able to translate garnering 6 points that previous campaign into a 55 point offensive output and win.
Way to Go Hawks!!
Canyon Lake ditched their run oriented offense this year and will usher in a more balanced attack and hoping that learning curve might produce some surprised results.
Against Central Catholic, The Lake, was able to hold their own once again and looked to have taken a step in the right direction when comparing their first scrimmage playing Burnet the week before.
These Buttons had missed some slots on their dress shirt which allowed CLake some opportunities to dress up some concoctions that had these Hawks looking better for their opening act this coming Friday.
The ReSporter has alluded thus far that this season presents us with some book readings and so far that book seems to possess some interesting upcoming chapters with ups and downs with each coming chapter.
CLHS Defense will be tested big time this week as these Texans left some lasting marks on the Hawks after suffering a, 60-6 shellacking that had Wimbo resting all their starters early during that 2nd half.
Wimberley was not afraid of CL’s slot-t and had little trouble stopping a running offense which on more than one occasion leaving The Lake resorting to desperate passing attack that rarely ever produced good results.
But that Hawk slot-t was not the major problem last year….it was a defense that allowed a 50 points average per game with most of that damage being produced through the airwaves.
Canyon Lake looked decent in the past two scrimmages but that could also be said for last year’s pre-season scrimmages and we still have some in the Hawk Nation getting treatment for dealing with nightmares.
This new book we are reading is becoming a page turner. Canyon Lake will need to know if they might need Cliff Notes in case of some upcoming rocky moments, but here’s hoping we can make it to our next chapter and Go Hawks!!
