Hawk’s Junior Varsity Dominate Uvalde, 54-12

The Uvalde Coyotes defense had a hard time keeping the Hawks out of their backfield after surrendering 18 plays of negative yardage. Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity continue to show signs of improvement with each passing (or running) game after taking this Uvalde JV team to the cleaners in their, 54-12 victory.

Yes, mistakes were present but seeing how each side of the ball continues to grow and improve is a testament on how well this program has performed after starting from the bottom in last season’s compilation.

CLJV had two rushers who reached 100 yards rushing (Ryder Smith 155 & Divan Hernandez 126 yards) while the Hawk defense held these Coyotes to negative 65 yards rushing with an abundance of pressures from countless players.

Gage Ziemba with sacks and Defensive lineman Kane Lanni among many other Hawk’s who answered the call in this dominating win.

The Lake started this event recovering a fumble after a Uvalde kick-off return which turned into a one play 22 yard pass from QB Hayes Holladay to C.J. Rodriguez. That score was bookend with another one play drive when Bowling Ball Divan Hernandez refusing to a gutter ball while the Uvalde pins bounced off on his 17 yard jaunt and a, 14-0 lead to start the 2nd quarter.

CL’s next drive was a Smith show rushing for 6 of the 8 plays (46 yards) resulting in a, 22-0 Hawk advantage.

The Coyotes did respond with a 9 play 63 yard drive…scoring with 4 seconds on the 1st half clock, 22-6.

CLHS had a, 2nd half repeat, with 4 touchdowns and one Uvalde score coming off a 65 yard fumble return to arrive at a final, 54-12 win.

The Hawk defense accumulated 18 plays of negative yardage that showed the dominance of the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Canyon Lake will have a week off before returning to the field of play in Davenport in two weeks.
