In this Hawk loss when the water turned hot it produced points but that heat just took too long to get going which allowed these visiting Billies way too many points for catching up.
CLJV won that total yardage battle but it would not prove to be enough ammo to take control as Fredericksburg was using a potent rushing game and those explosive plays kept your Hawks in a catch-up mode.
In 4 of the 5 scoring plays, Freddie amassed, 170 yards that stunned Canyon Lake.
The Lake did have some warm water in that 2nd quarter on a 71 yard drive capped off when Oliver Carey-Spoon converted a 4th down and 8 yards needed skirting to the right side of the end zone.
But that had a Freddie team controlling this game running (literally) the score up to a comfortable, 35-8 advantage.

Then The Lake’s water finally turned hot enough for 3 straight scores with chances to draw closer. But those water problems would keep CL from getting enough time for an ultimate chance for a win.
Ryder Smith finished with 107 yards rushing while Peyton Vann 120 receiving yards (40 yard average) and Baldera with 80 yards receiving did most of CL’s damage.
One highlight was a Hawk 2 play 80 yard drive that had a 35 yard completion to C.J. Rodriguez and then a cap-off 55 yard strike to Vann.
Some calls to Gordon the Plumber might be a solution that can help with next week’s battle on the road in Somerset.
Canyon Lake’s Freshman squad had a chance until an end of the first half interception with a 100 yard return that spelled doom on this night for this upstart Freshman team.
