Hawk Freshman Improvement Continues Despite Davenport Loss

Freshman Offensive Line protecting QB Damon Garcia. (71) Rowdy Hrncirik, (72) Ryan Frederick, (79) Parker Gordon, & (53) William Crisp. Go Lake!

The Lake’s Freshman showed a valiant effort in their, 48-34 loss to Davenport that could have been a nail biter if turnovers had not left CL in a unforgiving hole.

                 Stay in Shape Hawks!

Good news was not needing to punt but turnovers contributed to that stat with self inflicting mistakes in this game with 3 loss fumbles and an interception.

One fumble led to a Wolf 45 your return which helped keep the Home team with enough cushion to sustain this victory.

Last season these Freshman had a losing record finishing their season with just two wins but seeing a much improved product with one game remaining certainly will raise expectations when next season comes calling next August.

Take note that Running Back Brayden Sullivan finished with 211 yards rushing with two real estate whoppers of 51 and 45 yards and both coming during their 2nd half. In fact, Sullivan rushed for 166 yards during the second half.

Make a Deposit & Go Hawks!!

Kudos for the Offensive Line on that impressive stat line.

The airwaves finished just short of 200 yard (189) with a humdinger pass when QB Damon Garcia found Kobe Halverson in the flat that turned into a nifty 85 yard score.

Halverson also had a 75 yard kick-off return with both of these explosive plays showing off speed. Yes, speed kills!!

CL’s day was hurt with just 3 officials for this affair causing some missed calls (since the referees don’t have enough eyes to see the whole field). That scenario presented itself when Dario Faz seemed to score on a 9 yard run but the ball was placed at the one yard line since an official was out of position to make a better call. That next play, The Lake, fumbled losing a chance of more points.

Canyon Lake ‘Hawk’ Proud!!

Yes, a loss, but stepping back from this picture will show a much improved team that will certainly be a helpful addition for the next 3 campaigns.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
