The Lady Hawk’s Basketball team has started their campaign with two wins after disposing of the Lampasas Badgers last Tuesday night at the Hawk Nest.

                   Way to Go Hawks!!

Reece Coburn who missed the final part of last season has been on fire with a combined 43 points in these first two wins. Coburn has filled her stat sheet after shooting 70% from the free throw line with 16 makes and has 12 rebounds and 10 steals to date.

The Lake had a combined 16 steals in this Lamps win which led to a double digit victory (12 points).

Mya Vorhis is throwing a block party after starting this season sending back 5 shots and another 3 in her Badger game. Hopefully she does not turn to a life of crime but local police might need to give her the go ahead by allowing more steals after accumulating 15 in her first two outings to go along with those blocks. Yes, she has controlled the boards with an 11 rebound average thus far.

There has been some off season superlatives for this season Hawk edition as Makenna Myers who has 18 rebounds her first two games while scoring 13 points and showing her basketball IQ as this whole Lake team is contributing those little things that add up with wins.

                        GO Lady HAWKS!

CL was able to control the boards with Myers (13) and Vorhis (12) leading with double digits.  There were 38 boards with 19 on both sides of the courts which helped with a less than stellar shooting percentage.

Canyon Lake had a two point first quarter lead but was able to stretch what with a 9 point cushion entering their halftime session.

The Hawks were able to respond during that second half running their lead to a game high, 14 point, 31-17 early during their 2nd half start.

It was the last quarter when these Badgers were able cut the Hawks lead to single digits 6 points, 37-31 with over 5 minutes left to play.

Canyon Lake Lake Proud!!

CLHS scored their next 5 points off a Vorhis free throw and Marley Christian to Coburn score that helped seal the deal.

Lampasas was held in check scoring just one more field goal and an eventual CLake win, 45-33.

The Lake will be back in action this Friday when they face Jarrell at their house.

Let’s Go Hawks!!
