Boys & Girls Hawk Basketball Teams Prepare for District Play

Morgan Bebee returns for and works for a rebound in Blanco game.

Canyon Lake’s round ball is presently in their final month before district gets going early in January.

                                 Go Hawks!

The Hawk Ladies (6-8) are in the sharpening their skills part of the season as they prepare to improve on their finish last season.

Reese Coburn is leading the Hawks scoring 15 points per outing and also contributes as the leader in steals and assists.

Marley Christian is right at the 10 point per game threshold and presently has the 3rd most steals thus far.

Mya Vorhis has some height company this season with a much improved Makenna Myers and Freshman Braelyn Rice. Vorhis has swatted (blocked) 20 balls from the goal thus far and leads the team in rebounds and has the second most steals.

Senior Morgan Bebee just returned after suffering an injury during last year’s district slate and can hopefully add to the tall player sorority this season.

                           Go Hawks!

Shooting percentage will need some work and Head Coach Lauren Perez continues to see improvement in this year’s program from the Sub-Varsity up…

CL’s Ladies will be on the road this week playing Marion on Tuesday and then in Robinson (near Waco) this Thursday for a Tournament.

The Lake’s Boys (8-6) have been above water for during this season thus far and will also be on the road this week playing at Burnet on Tuesday and Bastrop this Thursday.

Hit Man says Block Out Pests Hawks!

Some tough games thus far with some good wins that has been added to this year’s resume.

“We are on the right track and taking care of the ball,” Head Coach Monte Cole stated. “We still need more creative with our defense and get better…our shooting is still a work in progress.”

Canyon Lake has seen Dalton Stromquist with a strong start this year with an 11 point per game average while leading the Hawks with a sparkling, 54% shooting percentage.

Carter Williams has made his presence known after missing the first seven contests due to the Hawk’s Football team going two rounds in the playoffs.

Williams (584) is chairman on the boards averaging 13 bounds and has taken over the top of the Hawk rebound stat passing Rico Griffin (558) three games ago.

Williams has a 16 points per game average and has posted 4 double-doubles in those two areas.

Guard play has a host of players with Jaxson Jeter making a charge with assist and had a double double with points earlier this campaign.

Senior Jacob Holland had a 33% on his behind the arc shots and has reached 30 for the season and presently stands in 3rd place on the Hawk charts needing 28 more to pass Andrew Riali.

Coach Cole does have a wealth of players to plug in that can handle the ball with additions of Phoenix Fuentes-Christian Cheatham-Reese Pipkin.

As this season has progressed those pesky turnovers have been down significantly but shooting free throws has cost The Lake valuable points that will need to improve as this season continues.

Another good sign is seeing a Junior Varsity that has a winning record which is certainly a good indicator on how this program can start that pipeline of players that leads to a more consistent team.

Way to Go Hawks!!
