The Lake’s Girls Soccer team won their 5th district game after a win at Marble Falls, 4-1 that will now leave CL with their last home game against Davenport this Friday.

Win or lose in the Wolves battle will still have your Hawks with a 2nd seed for the smaller 4A grouping with Wimberley.

It was this same scenario with CLake’s Boys Basketball when Fredericksburg making the playoffs moved The Lake to the smaller school category.

This win moved Canyon Lake (12-4-4 season)~(5-1-3 district) with a continued good defensive effort for the season. Allowing just 19 goals or less than one goal per contest.

Go Lake & Go Far in Post-Season!

Marble Falls got their goal early in this game (34:38) minutes left in that first half and from there it The Lake’s Dam would not be broken again while CLHS responded with 4 unanswered goals in this victory.

Offensively, Savanna Oberholtzer had her feet in all the scoring with 3 goals and an assist to Ryarose Clark for the other score. Oberholtzer scored her 100th goal in this game and finished with 102 for this season with a record 7 goals scored in an earlier win over Bandera with an assist finishing with 15 points in her 17 shots.

A win over Davenport this Friday would give Canyon Lake more momentum going into their playoff season and raise their goal of going further this go-round.

After the Mustangs opening score, it was a Oberholtzer break-a-way that gave her a one on one with the goalie and score just 1 minute and 13 seconds later and a tied game.

The Hawks were against the wind in that first stanza but did score two more times at the 10:53 mark by Ryarose Clark and then right before half at the 2:16 time a score, 3-1 lead that gave CL a secured win knowing that the play of Goalie Callie Dominguez would put a clamp on the Home Team.

This was a rough outing for CL with several ladies that left the game with some bruises….”Yeah…I tried to get some players off and get some rest and hopefully not an injuries but it still happened,” Head Coach Kara Stracener shared.

On what will be the team goals this week with the last district game and the post-season? “It’s just important that game helps propel us into the playoffs and not like a let down but regardless of the outcome (of the Davenport game) we will still be in 3rd place and second seed for small (schools bracket).”

Canyon Lake continues a strong season with higher goals this season and as always…..Way to GO LAKE!
