Volleyball: Hawk’s Varsity Swept Somerset, 3-0

Canyon Lake Volleyball continues to win ‘suppose’ to win games as they run their record to a very respectable, 9-5 with one more Tourney left in Seguin this week.

Head Coach Daniella Villarreal relayed her thoughts, “The girls did such a great job playing a clean game all the way through, no matter the changes in lineup I made. We passed excellent, served tough, and reached our goal of having a team hitting percentage over .200. We were low-error and kept the communication, energy, and consistency throughout the whole match. I’m proud of them for taking care of business!”

There was spontaneous student section ‘going crazy time’ that was later revealed by Coach Villarreal, “A huge milestone was reached with Kylie Rodriguez recording her 1,000th career dig. She reads the game so well that she can anticipate where the ball is going, which has led to her success along with her solid ball control. Kylie is a tremendous defensive leader for our team.

                    Way to Go Hawks!!

Another big accomplishment came with Chloe and Kylie both reaching over 100 career aces. Having been on varsity since their freshman year, this milestone reflects their consistency and effort over the years. Both of these girls have been some of the hardest workers I’ve known since the day I met them, and they aren’t done yet when it comes to achieving milestones and success!”

The district is starting to show some signs with two schools, Davenport & Wimberley, showing they will be having another good campaign while Bandera and Long Creek will be two schools that The Lake will be keeping an eye on in looking for an opening to secure a playoff spot. Fredericksburg has the worst record thus far but the Billies competition has been a step above which could prove to be a hard team to count out at this stage of the season.

The Hawks were in control of this 3 set sweep and continued to show-off their deep bench play by getting all their players on the court.

Way to GO Hawks!!
