Lake’s Stifling Defense Leads to, 58-41 Win Over Comfort.
The Lake battled back and then outscored Comfort, 32-11 in the 2nd Half leading to another good win as district play comes calling this coming Friday a home game against a salty Wimberley team.
Head Coach Monte Cole expressed his thoughts, “Total team effort. Everyone contributed in some way between scoring, rebounding and assists. Our first half was up and down but second half we really amped up our defense and started hitting shots to create the separation…Really good game for us going into our first district game next Friday.”
That Up & Down sequence played out via quarters after The Lake started with an, 18-15 advantage and then allowing Comfort making it unComfortable in during the second phase and a 4 point lead going into intermission, 30-26.
These Bobcats feasted at their charity stripe in that first half sinking 12 for a 71% shooting percentage. In this game Comfort finished with a 71% free throw rate scoring 17 points. Which contrasted with The Hawks going 2 for 4 from the line and those two makes came by way of a technical foul.
Canyon Lake problem was committing fouls 20 or more feet from the paint resulted being outscored, 17-2 from the stripe.
CLHS shot 35% beyond to arc with 6 makes which has the last two games doing damage on that shot. CLake is shooting 21% this season up to these last two contests beyond the arc that produced at a 38% percentage.
Wyatt Sims (10 pts) and Josh Rowe (15 pts) did the most damage with their long range shots which was a welcomed sight helping in this victory.
Those ‘UPs’ happened when Anthony Hockman played the paint with 10 points while pulling down 8 rebounds.
Canyon Lake was down, 39-37 with 2 minutes remaining in that 3rd Quarter when the switch was turned on seeing, The Lake, outscoring Comfort 21-0 until the Bobcats scored their last two points from you guessed it, The Foul Line, with just one minute remaining in this contest.
The Lake brought Landon Brown (scored 4 points) up from Junior Varsity as these Hawks continue to fight short handed these past couple of weeks.
Now it will be a week of fine tuning before district play begins next Friday.
Way to GO LAKE!
