Hawk’s Baseball Finish, 3-2 in Sinton Tournament & Play 4 Games This Week

Ryan Rena pitched in win over Aransas Pass. Way to Go Lake!

The Hawks finished their Sinton Tourney, 3-2 giving Head Coach Victor Escamilla a lot of data in forming those three baseball elements of, Pitching~Fielding~Hitting.

Thus far The Lake has used more pitchers by this time of the year seeing 8 players. This group has posted a decent 2.70 era and 12 earned runs during 31 innings of work.

“Every outing is a test for our guys,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla stated on how he takes in pitching before pre-district. “We have a few arms but we need to find those that throw more strikes. We will continue to work with all of them hoping to get better results with each outing.”

Giving up 21 hits is doable but their base on balls reached 21 which would help with a lower number which will certainly be in Coach Escamilla’s thought process in choosing those players that take the mound.

Way to Make us Proud Hawks!

Those two losses were to perennial power Sinton and Tuloso-Midway a larger school. The Lake managed just one run in those outings.

Fielding has been decent with a .937 percentage. But Coach Escamilla is a tough grader, “I would give fielding a C plus. We have to get better. We Don’t have those guys that will strike out 10 in a game. Good defense will go a long way for us.”

Coach Escamilla graded CL’s batting thusly, “Hitting C plus. We must improve our hitting against good pitching.”

                                Go Lake!

That was the main theme in those two losses and one win happened with just two hits…but those hits came when Wayen Slania-Wertz  hit a 3-run homer and a double for Brenan Hughes.

Overall, “We need to find our top 4 guys on the mound and improve against quality pitching.

The Lake will continue with 4 games at the Hawk Nest this week with one game Thursday-Friday and then finish with two contests next Saturday.

A lot of ??? that can hopefully turn into !!!!

Let’s Go Lake!
