Canyon Lake will be in the same position as last season in need of another win to break the .500 mark and ready themselves for their district campaign.

The Hawks cannot afford to go to sleep on this game since they have not been setting the world on fire themselves, but Marion did match their win total for all of last year when they beat Karnes City last week.

Also, note that their loss to Yoakum was only 4 points and that same team beat the Bulldogs 54-0 the previous year giving you an idea that this team has come around and is playing much better.

J.D. Raggio will be calling the plays at QB for the Bulldogs as he has 375 yards passing with 5 touchdowns and just one interception.

A little math will tell you this team will run more than they pass but not by much as they have attempted 40 passes to 57 rushing plays.

Jarob Berry leads the team with 123 yards receiving and Edher Nava Arroyo leads with 6 receptions.

Aaron Wallace and Nathan Newman have both been successful catching the ball as both players have 2 touchdowns receiving.

The workhorse in the backfield is Deron Rice with 31 carries and 121 yards but running back Jarob Rerry is the dangerous runner as he averages 18 yards per carry and leads the team with 178 yards on just 10 times carrying the rock.

So a balanced attack from the Bulldog offense with 322 yards rushing compared to 375 via the air.

Defensively the Bulldogs have been hot and cold agains the run as they stopped Karnes City last week but Yoakum put a hurt on them.

One thing is for sure….if Marion scores there will be a great chance that Marion will go for two as they have attempted just one kick for the season.

Canyon Lake will find out if they woke up for the second half last week and if they will be alert and ready to go for a whole game.

Yes, the Hawks are young but they do have talent and those younger players will need to unleash the dogs and make this game a tune up for other games.

Can the Bulldogs hold Robert Woods and Tyler McCleary from getting pressure on Raggio?

If not, then Marion might not have time to get the ball to one of their talented receivers.

Two teams playing for a winning percentage and Canyon Lake is on the road for their 2nd game in a row.

Should not be an issue when the kick-off is in the air.

Go Hawks!!
