Y4 Custom Homes is all in for supporting CL Hawks Volleyball

The weeks start to dwindle down as each district team can now count down to a little over 2 weeks left in this year’s season.

With each game that is won by the Hawks they are in rarefied air as this team continues to have the inside track for their first district title as a volleyball team and first district title for any Canyon Lake team ever.

That is what will make this Friday’s game another huge event as a Hawk win over the Navarro Panthers would all but clinch that title.

A loss would have different consequences, “If this happens, then we would have a playoff because it would mean a 1st or 2nd in our district,” Head Coach Kim Paisley said. “It would mean whether we would face a 4th place team or 3rd place team in the 1st round….We could still flip if both coaches agree upon this, but I do not feel that a flip is in order for this type of situation.”

Navarro and CL Hawks have separated from the other 5 schools as you can see the distinction by deciphering the records above in both the overall and district records.

But each game stands alone and Coach Paisley has already mentioned how everyone will be gunning for the Hawks.

In last Friday’s game with Yoakum, the Hawks had a lethargic start as the game with the Bulldogs was tied, 10 all in a game that should have been controlled by Canyon Lake.

Coach Paisley does not like to call time outs and especially during the first set and at that 10 all score the Hawks were huddled around the coach, “I reminded them of the awesome practices we had Wednesday and Thursday after being off Tuesday, and that we are 6-0 and going into the 2nd round of district…..I told them that the 2nd round is going to be tougher and we need to play at a high level no matter who we play.”

The Hawks responded with a 15-5 run to finish that first set and then proceeded to outscore the Bulldogs, 25-12 and 25-8 in finishing off the 6th place team in District 26-4A.

Now you have teams like Gonzales who will be hard pressed to win a game over any team but Yoakum. So the schools with legit chances for a post season berth would be Cuero on up to the Hawks in those standings above.

Cuero is in a tough position as the Gobblers will have two games this week against their two closest teams in the standings. The Gobblers could conceivably win one of those games and have an outside chance of getting a bid.

Two losses by Cuero this week would clinch the first four teams in making the playoffs above.

Who finishes higher between Wimberley and La Vernia would be another big game to see who would go into the playoff brackets with a 4th or 3rd seed.

The ReSporter, has done a bit of homework, for those who like to project future events.

Canyon Lake as a 1st Seed would have a first round game with the 4th seed of District 25 which presently is Taylor.

The Ducks were the first team the Hawks played in last years post season.

The winner of District 27 and 28 game would face the winner of the CL and Taylor game.

That District 27 team will probably be Columbus or Sealy. Those Sealy Tigers were the team that finished Canyon Lake’s campaign a year ago, in the second round.

If Canyon Lake is seeded 2nd then they could be playing Sealy or Columbus in that bracket also.

CL’s first game would be pitted with the 3rd seed in District 25, which is presently either Liberty Hill or Salado.

Suffice to say, this is fun stuff for The ReSporter but the main objective would be for the Hawks to continue winning and it really does not matter the path for this year’s team.

Right now Canyon Lake is ranked 8th in the Texas Girls Coaches Association State Volleyball Poll that was posted on October 5th.

That is also the highest ranking for Canyon Lake ever which is getting us back to how rarefied air conquests will hopefully continue.

The ReSporter will bring airline personnel to the next game to teach the fans how to apply the mask over your nose and mouth first before you take that extra air mask and apply it to your children if they are sitting next to you.

The ReSporter will assume you know how to use a seat belt because there might be bumpy games in the future.

Now go and take a deep breath and see how high these Hawks can soar!!
