The CL Hawks Gold team ran away from Fredericksburg in Thursday night’s win, 24-6.

This Gold team has not much press this year since most of the games have been on the road. There was one game to be played at Hawk Stadium about a month ago, but lightning cancelled that contest and no game played.

So the Gold Hawks decided to show the home folk how they have been disposing of opponents this season.

On CL’s first drive, they took 6 plays before they would make their mark on this Billie team when Rolando Maronge took the game and ball in hand for the one yard touchdown dive play.

This drive had three good runs by different backs as Maronge took care of the last three runs after Carter McCormick with a 17 yard dash and a Zack Burgess 35 yard run with both helping in getting that first score.

Fredericksburg’s team would not be able to get off the mat as their first two times with the ball resulted in a 3 play and punt result.

The Hawk defense controlled the line for most of the game pushing the Billies back for up to 39 negative yards in their run game.

Fredericksburg best offensive play was a tight wire running act by receiver Cantu as his catch and run covered 53 yards and pulling the outmanned Billies to within one touchdown for a possible lead.

Canyon Lake would instill their dominance on their next drive with a 70 yard 9 play drive that would increase the game to a two score lead while milking the clock for the rest of the 3rd quarter.

This drive was in full motion as while using four different backs in getting the, **’turn out the lights—the party is over’, touchdown.

**For those younger readers, just Google Don Meredith and those words and you can get the picture of that meaning.

This drive was finished when Noah Gray skirted around the corner for the score while the drive was also accentuated by a Maronge 15 yard explosive play.

Maronge ended the game as the leading rushier with 73 yards on 10 carries.

The simple fact is if all the Hawk rushers for this game would have had the opportunity to get the rock for 10 plays, then that runner could have also been the top runner for Canyon Lake on this night.

CL Gold team would use Levin Coleman for their final touchdown as Coleman would score from 27 yards out and the final nail on the Billies comeback try.

This drive took only two plays as the clock had already been put on a automatic run button for helping the already known outcome to finish to prevent unnecessary injuries.

CL Gold team was a nugget you can take to the bank as they too are the real deal this season for the Sub-Varsity Hawk Teams.

Go Hawks!
